🥬 Arugula
The "Instant Gratification" plant for kids and impatient gardeners.
📅 Start Date: Anytime! You can grow this all winter in Alberta.
🌱 Container: Use a shallow, wide tray (like a recycled plastic strawberry container with holes poked in the bottom).
💡 Light: They don't need as much light as tomatoes—8–10 hours is plenty.
🍴 Harvesting: Use scissors to snip the outer leaves when they are 3 inches tall. Leave the center, and it will grow back!
❄️ Alberta Edge: This plant is frost-hardy. You can actually move these outside into a patio pot in early May, long before the tomatoes.
